Online Therapy

Effective therapy, wherever you are

Good support should not depend on where you live or how busy life is. Online therapy brings the same experienced psychotherapists to you, by secure video, from home or anywhere private. At Integro Health, distance is no barrier to feeling better.

What is online therapy?

This page is about online therapy, also known as telehealth. What it involves, how well it works, and how our practitioners at Integro Health support you remotely, wherever you are in South West WA and across Australia.

Online therapy is exactly what it sounds like, therapy sessions delivered by secure video call rather than in person. You meet with the same qualified therapists and counsellors, using the same evidence-based approaches, from the comfort and privacy of your own space. It is not a lesser version of therapy. Research shows that for most concerns, online therapy is just as effective as attending in person, and for many people it is more accessible, more convenient, and easier to fit into a busy life.

Who online therapy suits

Online therapy suits a wide range of people and concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, grief, and relationship difficulties. It is especially valuable if you live in a regional or remote part of the South West, work long or irregular hours, including FIFO, have caring responsibilities or mobility difficulties, or simply value the privacy and convenience of attending from home. It also makes it easy to keep seeing the same practitioner if you move or travel.

What we often hear is that people are surprised by how natural and connected online sessions feel once they begin. The relationship with your therapist, which matters more than the setting, translates well to video.

At Integro Health, we offer telehealth across South West WA and Australia-wide, so you can access experienced support wherever you are, without the drive.

How online therapy works with us

Online therapy is straightforward, and you do not need to be tech-savvy to use it. What we do is work alongside you, at a pace that feels manageable, using the same evidence-based approaches we use in person, shaped by your individual story.

Simple to get started

Booking is easy, and before your first session we send you a secure link. All you need is a device with a camera, a reliable internet connection, and a private space. We will help you get set up if you are unsure.

The same experienced practitioners

You see the same qualified therapists and counsellors as you would in the clinic, using the same evidence-based approaches. Nothing about the quality of care changes, only the setting.

A private space that is yours

Sessions happen wherever you feel comfortable and unheard by others, often your home. For many people, being in their own space makes it easier to open up, not harder.

What you can expect when you reach out

As effective as in person

For most concerns, online therapy works just as well as attending the clinic, backed by solid research. You are not settling for less.

Accessible from anywhere

Regional, remote, FIFO, or simply busy, you can access experienced support without the drive, wherever you are in the South West or across Australia.

Evidence-based approaches

We draw on CBT, ACT, EMDR, and schema therapy depending on what fits you. Not a one-size protocol, but a genuinely tailored response to your situation.

Private and secure

Sessions are held over a secure, confidential platform, and take place wherever you feel comfortable, so your privacy is protected throughout.

What people get wrong about online therapy

One of the most common myths about online therapy is that it cannot be as good as being in the same room. Research over many years, and especially recently, has shown that for most concerns telehealth is just as effective as in-person therapy. What matters most is the relationship with your therapist, and that comes across clearly on video.

Another misconception is that you need to be confident with technology. You do not. The setup is simple, we guide you through it, and once you have joined a session or two it becomes second nature. If technology is a barrier, we are happy to help you sort it out.

We also hear from people in South West WA who assumed they could not access good psychological support because of where they live or how busy they are. Online therapy removes that barrier, bringing experienced practitioners to regional towns, farms, worksites, and living rooms across the region.

Finally, some people worry that online sessions will feel awkward or impersonal. Most are pleasantly surprised. Being in your own space often makes it easier to relax and open up, and our practitioners are experienced at making telehealth feel warm and connected. You can start with our individual therapy if you are unsure which service fits.

Is online therapy right for me?

It is common to wonder whether online therapy will suit you, or whether you would be better off in person. The honest answer is that for most people and most concerns, it works very well, and it comes down to what fits your life.

If you live regionally, work long hours, have caring or mobility considerations, or simply prefer the convenience and privacy of attending from home, then online therapy can help. If you have a quiet, private space and a reliable connection, you have most of what you need to make a start.

How online sessions work

Getting started with online therapy is simple:

You book as usual, and we send you a secure video link before your appointment, along with anything you need to know.

You join from a private space, using a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera. Sessions run the same length and structure as in-clinic ones, typically around 50 minutes.

The work is the same, with the same practitioner and the same evidence-based approaches, tailored to you. If you ever want to switch between online and in-person, that is easy to arrange.

At Integro Health, our aim is to help you feel well, think clearly, and live the way you want to, wherever you are. You can read more about what to expect on our first session page.

Your questions answered

Yes, in many cases. Telehealth sessions are eligible for the same Medicare rebate as in-person ones. A Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP gives you a rebate for up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year with a registered psychologist. Your GP will assess your eligibility, and it is worth getting the referral in place before your first session.

Not much. A device with a camera and microphone, a phone, tablet, or computer, a reliable internet connection, and a private space where you will not be interrupted. We send you a secure link beforehand, and we are happy to help you get set up if you are unsure.

Yes. Sessions are held over a secure, confidential video platform, and everything you share is protected in the same way as in-clinic therapy, within the usual legal limits around serious risk of harm. We also recommend attending from a private space where you will not be overheard.

For most concerns, yes. A large and growing body of research shows telehealth therapy achieves outcomes comparable to in-person sessions. The therapeutic relationship, which matters most, translates well to video. For a small number of situations we may suggest in-person sessions, and we will always be honest with you about what suits you best.

This varies with what you are working through, just as it does in person. Some people find a handful of focused sessions makes a real difference, others value a longer journey. We review progress with you and let the work move at your pace.

Yes, easily. Many people mix the two to suit their week, or start online and come into our Eaton clinic near Bunbury when it suits, or the other way around. We are flexible, and it is your choice.

No referral is needed to book a session. You can contact us directly to arrange a first appointment. If you would like to access Medicare rebates through a Mental Health Treatment Plan, you will need a GP referral first, and we can guide you through that.

Exactly the same evidence-based approaches we use in person, including CBT, ACT, EMDR, and schema therapy. These translate well to telehealth, and we tailor the approach to you and what you are working through.
